Description

Each new eruption brings new lessons for volcanologists, public safety officials, and citizens. A number of notable eruptions – and even a few near-eruptions that didn’t occur – have occurred since CoV 5 (Shimabara 2007). Talks in this session should include an outline of notable volcanic activity but then emphasize scientific and crisis management lessons. Talks on activity since CoV 5 will be given preference, but new insights into earlier eruptions may also be submitted.
