This field trip aims to provide an overall perspective to the processes governing dike intrusion and fissure eruption in Tenerife. The field trip will comprise examining dike exposures in the Teno Massif and Las Cañadas Caldera, eruptions of Las Cañadas Caldera and the historical eruptions of the NE rift zone of Tenerife. The field trip will last three days, starting in el Puerto de la Cruz in the early morning of 5 June 2010 and ending in el Puerto de la Cruz in the evening of 7 June 2010. Nights of the 5th and 6th June will be at el Parador Nacional de las Cañadas del Teide. Moderate walking along dirt tracks and climbing on slippery surfaces is required. Maximum number of participants is 20 and cost per person is 300 €.
